I recently bought a 2000 Trans Am WS6 and it already has 82,000 miles on it. What I am worried about is that I don't know how hard the guy I bought it from ran it. Which in turn makes me worried about how much longer this engine will live.

I asked my buddy if the engine's life will improve if I did a cam or head swap. He said that LS1 engines react well with mods in terms of gains and power, but mods destroy the engines life.

What do you all think? Is this true or are this something I can do to keep my engine running well?
